A Mexican, an English guy, and a Dutch guy building an international business together wasn’t part of anyone’s plan. It happened because three people met in the most ordinary way and decided not to ignore an opportunity.
I met Jacob and Tobias back in 2021, when I was teaching Spanish online to people from all over the world. Jacob joined from England wanting to learn from scratch. Tobias connected from Switzerland and surprised me with how quickly he picked things up. At that point, we were just student and teacher, not a future team.
As the months went by, something kept bothering me. My students were improving, but every week I heard the same thing: “I have no one to practice with.” They wanted to get better, but couldn’t find real people to talk to. And the apps available didn’t help them past a certain point.
I kept hoping someone else would fix that gap. But eventually I realised I cared too much about the problem to let it sit there. So I sketched my idea, wrote a pitch deck, and started asking: who could build this with me?
At first I talked to friends, but everyone was tied up with their own projects. So I looked for people as stubborn and curious as I am. Tobias was the first to join. A few days later I reached out to Jacob, because I knew we needed someone with experience. He understood the vision right away.
We met online a few times, then in Vienna, where we decided to work together. Since then, we’ve continued building across different cities in Europe, adjusting, learning, and figuring things out as we go.
Today we’re focused on something that matters to us: helping people support each other in becoming fluent. Real connections, real conversations, real progress.
Every step so far has reminded me that good things often start quietly, through ordinary conversations that end up opening doors you didn’t see coming. I’m grateful for the people who showed up at the right time, for the lessons we’ve learned together, and for the community that keeps growing around this idea.
There’s still a lot to build, but it finally feels like we’re moving in the right direction, with patience, purpose, and the kind of teamwork that makes the whole thing worth it.
